I have a windows 98 with no sound. I think it might have to do with missing a driver for an audio card...but i'm really not sure...
how do i find the type of audio card i have to install a driver??

....i have no idea what i am talking about...but please help!!

You may be right, I assume you cannot hear anything, right? Right click on My Computer | Properties | Device Manager. Do you see any thing that says unknown with an exclamation point?

Do you have a Dell, Compaq, etc computer or was it custom built? If it's a manufactured computer, what's the model?

if your MB has onboard sound, or if you have a seperate sound card, either way, put the cd that came with it in the computer, and install all the drivers

That's a good tip and would probably solve the problem....

...but how many people who have a computer which originally came with Windows 98 installed still have these driver discs? It's amazing how easily they get lost.

If your comp's a Dell or a Compaq/HP, the drivers should be fairly easy to find from the company website.
