USB issue under winXp

Last weekend I took it upon myself to fix the noise on my zalman fan by
installing a 'fan-mate 2' 3pin header. It's sole purpose it to control
the fan speed. I also cleaned up a bit of dust with the vacuum.

The problem I've now encountered, as a result, is the USB mouse and
keyboard no longer work once booted into XP pro. This occurs in safe
mode also. The strange twist is the KB still works when in the bios. So
I can only presume it's a OS software issue.

Are there any simple tricks to reloading the XP drivers?

I'm using:
Asus P5Q premium
C2Duo 3.17
4 gig ram
ATI video card
XP pro

UPDATE* I've just noticed the IDE devices, 2 DVD rom/rw, are not longer
detected either.

Thanks in advance

Just uninstall the relevant devices/or their controllers in Device
Manager and then restart Windows.
In theory Windows should reinstall the devices correctly.

it's a 650W Hyper - a reputable brand but about 4-5 years old now. I've
probably got her maxed out with 4HDD, 2 ex-HDD, 5 usb devices, 2 IDE,
ATI4700, and dual CPU. no overclock though

Intersesting. A few months back the machine kept rebooting after bios. I
thought it was a mobo fail but i unplugged all the USB devices and she
came back to life.

As it turns out i sourced and installed the new drivers from the Asus
website and everything is running again as it should. i'm not sure what
triggered the sytem to lose all USB and IDE driver support but it's now
resolved.
Thanks again for the help.
