How much of a performane boost would I get If I added discs and used the
Raid function of my board over a IDE drive?

Depends on what you are setting up, if mirroring then nothing as this is
just for backup. If set to 2+0 stripe then you will get a big performance
gain, I did anyway using 2 60gb Maxtor D740X drives.......
