Having trouble formatting the HDD. I have created a new primary partition
using FDisk. I now need to format the disk. Ive downloaded the MSDOS 6.0
bootdisk from bootdisk.com and Format.exe is present on the disk (double
checked on another PC) but when I display the contents of the floppy disk
(DIR) on the new system its not listed. When I say - Format C:, I am getting
a Bad Command or Filename error. Any suggestions?

MSDOS 6.0 is s set of three disks (I think) the format command may not be
on the boot disk. You need the full disk set. Another point DOS 6.0 can
only format partitions up to 2 Gig in size.

Yes I was at the A: prompt and it didnt seem to be an upper/lower case issue
either.

I think there might be something else to this. Ive replugged everything now
and reset the BIOS boot up sequence (Floppy, CD, HDD). With bootdisk
inserted and nothing in the CD I switch on. The boot up runs through PCI
listing and then says "Verifying DMI Pool
Data.............................." and then says "Boot from CD: " and then
it just hangs. It doesnt seem to be reading the floppy boot disk. Could this
be a DOS version issue? Ive tried a few bootdisks now though with the same
results. Any suggestions anyone Im running out of ideas.

What OS do you intend to install? MSDOS or MSWindows in any of its
variations?
Use a more recent Boot Disk with a better fdisk prog on it.
Go back to www.bootdisk.com and download a bootdisk more akin to your needs.

Inidently if you put your Win98SE CD in the drive it will come to a point
before it installs Windows and and Prep your Hardrive for you so stick your
CD in the drive reboot and let the CD do it's Job just follow the guidlines.
