cpu drops 20C after bios update!

ok this is really weird. before i flashed the motherboard bios, the cpu read 54C in abitEQ. after the flash, it reads 35C. but in addition, abitEQ keep beeping, like a siren noise. yet, nothing is overheating and all the voltages are correct. at first, i thought that the bios update just screwed up a sensor or something but i was talking to a friend and he said that the bios update made the cpu more efficient so its siginicantly cooler.

if that is true, it still doesn't explain why abitEQ is sounding off like a police car. can anyone tell me what might have happened?

my system specs are in my sig.

A BIOS update doesn't affect of a CPU processes threads, etc. The update either messed up the readings or corrected a reading issue.

thats what i thought, but it still doesn't explain why the alarm goes off when i run abitEQ. everything else is running fine if not better. maybe i'll e-mail abit and see what they have to say.

For me, a BIOS update resets all of my options, this may be the case for you too. Make sure your alarms (if applicable) are set to the right limit.

ok i seem to have found what the problem is. do you know what HTV is? that voltage seemed to be out of range. its running at 1.4v. is it safe to have it at 1.4v? for now, i just disabled the alarm. as for why the temperature reading is significantly different, its because this bios update fixed an old bug. my processor was never running anywhere near 54C. it was always in the 30C to 40C range.
