What Is The Best AntiVirus For A Gamer PC? Thanks.

I use my pc mostly for gaming (Half-Life 2, Far Cry etc...)
I occasionally surf the net to get games patches (STEAM) and run Zone
Alarm Pro as firewall.
I would like to have your help in deciding for me which antivirus is:
1/ Effective in detecting and intercepting virii and Trojan
2/ has Small footprint and uses little system resources and therefore
does not impact on games performance.
I'm using a trial version of an anti virus program but it take too much
system resource and impede my pleasure of playing games.
My PC:
Athlon XP 2000
1 gig of RAM
MX440 128M Video card.
Windows XP.

I have used Norton Internet Security for years, no problems - Highly
Recommended!

You have got to be fukin joking?!

therefore does not impact on games performance." If that's the case, then
stay WELL WELL away from Norton Internet Security, and also Norton Antivirus
2004 and 2005.

It is a well known fact that the 2004 and 2005 range of Norton's antivirus
and Internet Security products severely slow down machines. Do a search on
th net and see for yourself.

I am not saying they are bad products, just severely slow the machine down.

I would go with VET myself if you don't want it to use much resources.

Problem is I sometimes need to run the game while online to update STEAM and
HL2.

AVG is the best virus program around. Does use as much resources as Nortons
and is free.

AVG has a 30 day trail then you have to pay for it...

for a free anti-virus I use, antivir from www.free-av.com
