I cant seem to install windows 98
Hey guys. I have not visited in a long time, but now I am back and I have a few questions to ask. My main question is that I have a very old system which runs Windows 95, as came pre-installed. Now you might ask why am I concerned with this old system but I really don't want to get into that now. Anyway, I am trying to upgrade to Windows 98. NOw here is the problem. I have a full install of Windows 98, not an upgrade disk. I cannot install it because every time I try to upgrade, it tells me that the specific the setup has detected another version of Windows installed and I require the Windows 98 upgrade disk. I was hoping that someone on this forum could instead help to bypass this problem since I know that there is a solution for it out there some where. I know of this 'issue' as some may consider it, in Windows 95. I suppose it was due to some stupid programming on Microsoft's part. Any please help me if you can.

You need to erase the copy of windows 95 on the computer in order to use a non-upgrade disk of 98. Formatting the drive is your only option that I know of.

I dont believe you can upgrade to Windows 98 without an Upgrade CD

I think your only options are 1) Format and fresh install or 2) Buy the Upgrade disk. Maybe someone else will have a solution, but there's not one that I know of.

You cannot upgrade a computer with Windows 95 with a full-blown operating system install disk. You need an upgrade disk, or format the drive, as everyone has said.
