cant install updates....
For the past couple of months I havent been able to install any of the updates from Microsoft. The little balloon in system tray says they are ready to install, when I go to install, it just says it wasnt able to install them. No error message just "not able to install"....then the icon goes back to the sys tray ( have since turned off auto updates but now there is a red sheild in the tray). I have XP pro (legit), and havent changed anything since my last hard drive upgrade in May. Is there a seting I need to be aware of????

Any ideas welcome

Have you attempted to do the updates via Internet Explorer instead of the Windows Update applet?

Check your system and application logs for erors when you try to install it.
