I can't get this modem to work !!!

Hi all
I'm back again for another helping hand. Well I replaced my son's HDD cause the other took a dump. I managed to get everything else working, but whenI did the modem everything went wrong. Ok for starters When I boot up I get message that I'm missing a file (Vnetbios.vxd) . I did some searching on my pc and beleive that this file is part of windows. So I was wondering if it is possible to re-run the windows disc to reinstall it. Well I think it best to fix this missing file problem before going on. So I'm open to suggestions on this matter.
Thank You
D Lubik

I believe that file is part of Windows Network and is required to have it function properly. It sounds like you installed 98? Go to Control Panel and Add / Remove | Windows Components and make sure that The networking component is installed. It may be best to remove it and reinstall it all together.

No, reinstalling 98 is not the best option.
