Busted PCI?
Hey,
I once instaled a used matrox video card into a pci slot and the screen was flickering, so i discarded the video card. About two months ago I got a soundblaster Live sound card and tried to install it in the same slot that I had tried to put the video card in and my computer didn't recognise the sound card (follow me?). then I tried putting the sound card in another slot and it worked. Does that mean i have a busted PCI slot? Can it be fixed? Do you know about how much it would be to fix it if it could be fixed? thanks so much!!!

It sounds like the pins inside the PCI slot may of been damaged. Is there any dust in it?
The only way to fix this issue is to buy a new motherboard.

No it's junk. Most likely happened when a card was inserted at an angle or with too much force. You could take it into a shop and might be able to fix it, but it would cost more than buying a new motherboard, so they wont. Your looking at anywhere from $100-$200. But if you don't need the slot, then don't worry about it.
