56k modem trouble

Hey guys I came into work this morning to find that our computer wouldn't dial up, after a couple hours of trying to get it to work I was told to just buy a new modem.

Of course now I have the new modem (USRobotics). It seemed to install just fine but I keep getting error 633: modem is already in use or not configured properly.

A little googling hasn't really given me any answers, I cannot find any software that would be interferring as the work computer is fairly minimal.

I'd double check to make sure no software is trying to access the modem. This includes anything used with the previous one.

Other possibilities, then, are faulty drivers or an IRQ conflict. I'd open the Device Manager, make sure hidden devices are showed, and look for any yellow exclamation marks. If none, try reinstalling the drivers.
